Regular Meeting of Council 

The City is creating a new Community Tourism Plan, and we need your input.

The purpose of the September 26, 2023 Workshop is to:

• Discuss the current state of tourism in and around Dawson Creek; and,
• Discuss key issues and opportunities to advance tourism.

Additional details regarding the overall process, including key opportunities to provide input, will be outlined at the event.

There will be two formal opportunities for you to provide input into the development of the Community Tourism Plan:

• During the September 26, 2023, kick-off workshop and dinner; and,
• During a visioning and goal-setting workshop in January 2024.

The Northern BC Tourism Association is also a key supporter of this initiative. The plan will be developed between September 2023 and March 2024.

The Northern Lights College will be hosting a Truth and Reconciliation awareness film showing of "Picking Up the Pieces: The Making of the Witness Blanket".

Time: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Location: DC Campus Room 116 - Health Services Building

As part of the Northern Lights College's Truth and Reconciliation Week, their Indigenous Education Department is hosting the Driftpile Cree Nation, AB, Drummers & Dancers with local Dawson Creek dancers in the Dawson Creek Campus Centre lobby.

There will be teachings about the songs, dance and drumming, tea dance and snacks. This event is free. View the event on the college's website.

The South Peace Hospice Palliative Care Society (SPHPCS) presents the annual Tony Hryciuk Education Event on September 30, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Dawson Creek Curling Club, 1113 106 Avenue. The event will include five different speakers on topics such as end of life financial planning to banking after death. Tickets include lunch and are available for puchase at Simple Pleasure downtown Dawson Creek. Contact the SPHPCS Program Coordinator for more information.
